iciHaiti - Health : Timid resumption of health care at HUEH
As announced Monday, by Dr Maurice Mainville Fils, Executive Director of the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18209-haiti-health-umpteenth-announcement-of-resumption-of-activity-at-the-hueh.html the largest public hospital in Haiti, paralyzed since 28 March by a strike of resident physicians timidly resumed on Wednesday its activities but without resident physicians who maintain their strike.

If dozens patient was seen in the hospital in the morning, about the middle of the day, most services were empty, despite the presence of several physicians of service, the patients having not been informed of this modest reopening.

"The recovery is only partial," says Dr. Maurice Mainville, who confirmed having taken measures for regular presence of physicians of service stressing that HUEH does not possess, all the means of its policy. Moreover, it recognizes that many physicians of services were not present for fear of being attacked by protesters resident doctors, as has repeatedly been the case in previous months... He announces having asked for help from the National Police of Haiti (PNH), to ensure a minimum of security at the hospital, to deter aggression on staff or sabotage of equipment.

However, the beginning of the recovery will not end the crisis paralyzing most public hospitals in Haiti, but on this issue, the Ministry remains silent except as negotiations continue...
