iciHaiti - Heritage : The Ministry of Tourism visited the Historical Park
As part of the Heritage Preservation Project and Support to the Tourism Sector (PAST) a delegation from the Ministry of Tourism composed among other of the Minister Guy Didier Hyppolite and his Chief of Staff, Kenn Duval, went this week Milot for a visit to observe the current situation of National Historical Park, particularly in the remains of the Palace Sans Souci, the Citadelle Laferrière and through the city of Cap Haitien.

This mission aimed to assess, and refocus and make the management of "heritage protection" aspect in order to develop the sites as tourist products. The delegation also met with local authorities to see how to develop tourism services with the local population while helping residents to create their own income generating activities.

Note that the PAST project gives equal importance to the accompaniment of residents in the vicinity of tourist attractions, and the preservation and security of the sites themselves. Recall that this project is funded by the World Bank and brings together key partners such as the National Heritage Preservation Institute (ISPAN), the Ministry of Culture, the Haitian National Pantheon Museum (MUPANAH), the National Bureau of Ethnology and will be implemented by the Technical Unit of Execution of the Ministry of Finance.
