On Monday 11 September, the jury of the Grands Prix de Littératures dramatique and Littérature jeunesse 2017 unveiled the texts of the 8 finalists. In the Grand Prix category of dramatic literature we find "Vents contraires" by Franco-Haitian Jean-René Lemoine, published by Les Solitaires Intempestifs.

Jean-René Lemoine, a writer, actor and director who is little known in Haiti, was born in 1959 in Haiti, whom he left at the age of two to settle in Zaire with his father, a Unesco official . He traveled to several countries in Europe, before settling in France more than twenty years ago.

He has already been awarded for his play Erzuli Dahomey, goddess of love, who received the SACD Prize for French-language dramaturgy in 2009. A play which entered the repertoire of the Comédie-Française in 2012 at the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier.
