Haiti - History : The Government declares a week of reflections on Jean Jacques Dessalines
The Ministry of Culture on behalf of the Government declares a week of reflections on the life of Jean Jacques Dessalines, the Founder of the Fatherland, as a prelude to the commemoration of the 211st anniversary of his death on October
17th.

Limond Toussaint, the Minister of Culture "invites schools, academics, the media, political parties, socio-political organizations and members of civil society to undertake presentations, reflections, exchanges and debates around the life of Jean Jacques Dessalines. These activities will certainly contribute to the sharing of knowledge, experience to enrich the culture and patriotic education of children, youth and the general population.

Minister Toussaint wishes to emphasize that the Day of 17 October 2017 marking the Commemoration of the death of Emperor Jacques I, the Haitian Flag will be at half-mast in memory of the Father Founder of the Nation.
