iciHaiti - Social: Truce 8 days at the OAVCT after 8 weeks of paralysis

After 8 weeks of strike and paralysis of the Office of Insurance Vehicle Against Third (OAVCT) the union of the strikers granted an truce of 8 days although it did not obtain the departure of the members of the Commission which manages the OAVCT.

Since Friday, May 25 the OAVCT starts to serve the population. According to trade unionist Jean Roody Saint-Juste of the OAVCT union, he obtained the guarantee that no strikers will be dismissed or any of the 1,030 employees working at the OAVCT. He said that during this truce in good faith the union would continue on the path of dialogue.

However, in addition to the guarantee given to them by a deputy close to power, mediating between the Palace and the union, he demands a formal letter from the Minister of the Economy guaranteeing that none of them will be dismissed. Recalling that the trade unionists will remain vigilant and ready to resume their protest movement if during the truce no follow-up has been given to their demands.
