The Directorate of Support to Private Education and Partnership (DAEPP) recently organized at Quisqueya University a conference-debate on the theme "The challenges of local partnership : roles of local authorities in the schooling of children."

This conference, which was meant to be a forum for dialogue between the different actors involved in the education sector, allowed us to discuss a set of themes relating to the necessity and importance of the involvement of everyone to advance the cause of education, including that of local and regional authorities.

Several actors from different associations, including those from education took part in the panel discussion composed of the former Minister of Education, Nesmy Manigat, Mayor of Carrefour Jude Edouard Pierre also President of the Federation of Mayors of Haiti and Julio Adam, President of the Federation of Administrations of Communal Sections (ASEC) of Haiti

For Charles Charles Volvick, Director of DAEPP, this first meeting is the beginning of a series planned by the Ministry of Education to mobilize and raise awareness the local authorities on their role in the education sector.
