iciHaiti - Education : Minister Cadet's Message to Teachers
As part of World Teachers' Day celebrated this Friday, October 5th, Pierre Josué Agénor Cadet, the Minister of National Education delivered a message to all teachers.

Message from Minister Cadet :

« Anseyant ak anseyan,

Nan okazyon Jounen mondyal anseyan yo, pèmèt mwen wete chapo m byen ba pou m salye tout anseyant ak anseyan yo nan 10 depatman eskolè yo nan peyi a pou angajman yo ak tout sakrifis y ap fè chak jou pou ankadre jèn yo e akonpaye timoun yo sou wout lakonesans. Yon travay ki pa fasil e ki pa gen pri.

Se poutètsa, nan non tout manman ak papa pitit, nan non Administrasyon MOISE-CEANT an, nan non Ministè Edikasyon Nasyonal ak Fomasyon Pwofesyonèl e nan non pam, m ap remesye tout anseyant ak anseyan yo pou tout bèl travay sila a e pou tout jefò y ap kontinye fè pou gide timoun yo e pou ede sosyete a vanse sou wout progrè ak devlopman.

Jan mwen te fè pwomès ane pase a, avèk sipò Prezidan Repiblik, plis pase 5 mil anseyan rive nome e sa ki gen lèt nan men yo depi lontan rive touche. Men travay la poko fini. Fòk tout anseyan k ap travay rive jwenn lèt san manke yon grenn.

Konsa nou pral mete kanpe ekip sipèvizyon nan chak lekòl ki gen problèm ki poko rezoud pou nou jwenn yon solisyon rapid. Nou mande konpreyansyon tout anseyan annatandan pou yo kontinye ankadre timoun yo pou okenn elèv pa soufri akòz absans pwofesè nan sal klas yo paske nou detèmine pou regilarize sitiyasyon chak anseyan. Nou mande sendika anseyan yo vini pote kole nan gwo travay sipèvizyon sila a.

Tankou nou te di l deja, nou envite tout responsab sendika anyeyan yo, yon lòt fwa ankò, pou nou kontinye dyalòg sosyal ki te komanse a, pou nou travay ansanm pou metye anseyan reprann valè l e ranfòse pi plis. Se nan tèt kole pou nou chanje figi lekòl peyi D Ayiti ak kondisyon anseyan yo nan benefis tout sosyete a, paske anseyan yo se poto mitan sistèm nan, se sous ki pou pèmèt sosyete a renouvle tèt li nan prepare jèn ki gen pou pran relèv la demen.

Dear teachers,

The job of educator involves sometimes enormous sacrifices, sometimes challenges, but again, it is exhilarating and is and remains 'the body and soul of education', as highlighted by the theme chosen by UNESCO 'teaching staff : the body and soul of public education'.

That is why your motto must be to proudly advance, without any skepticism, for the full development of the students entrusted to you. No real change is possible without your constant support. Together, we must work to make sense of the teaching profession, restore its titles of nobility and promote the materialization of the Teaching Condition.

In this sense, I reiterate my call for solidarity for the renewal of the Haitian school granting a place of choice to the teacher. This obviously assumes, as I pointed out, a general awareness, a constructive dialogue between all actors, a common understanding of this quest for quality, open and inclusive education.

In spite of our differences, we can not avoid consultation in order to address issues related to the teaching condition in terms of training, treatment, career and other social benefits and working conditions. The professionalisation of the teaching profession is at stake.

I reaffirm my desire and my commitment to support teachers in this essential way for the renewal of the education system and the valorization of their profession.

Happy birthday to all teachers!

Thank you."
