iciHaiti - Weather : Partial balance of Floods in the West Department
Heavy rains on the evening of 17 and 18 October caused flooding in the West Department. Pétion-ville, Port-au-Prince, Delmas, Carrefour and Cité Soleil are the most affected communes.

Friday, the Departmental Coordination of the West of the Civil Protection proceeded, to a first evaluation and drew up the following temporary provisional balance sheet :

Canapé-Vert (Café Iguana area): collapse of a retaining wall;
Pétion-ville (Malic zone 4th section Belle vue La montagne), another wall collapsed causing a slight injury;
Bicentennial, large amount of sediment blocked the roadway;
Delmas 40B (Rue Marcadieux): Flash flood;
Cité Soleil, Linto 1, Linto 2, Soleil 17 - 19, Drouillard Project, Tizile and the police station are flooded;
Carrefour (Mahotière 79, Corossol source area), a dozen houses are completely filled with alluvium;
Mariani (ODM Street), about twenty houses flooded.

Civil Protection continues its assessment in the field and reiterates its commitment to support the population, while reminding residents in areas at risk of floods, landslides... to remain vigilant and to respect the usual security instructions in case of heavy rain and gusts of wind.
