Tuesday, as part of the decongestion of prisons and the release of certain inmates https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-30407-haiti-justice-towards-the-release-of-detainees-to-decongest-the-prisons.html and the fight against prolonged pretrial detention Lucmanne Delille, the Minister of Justice, accompanied in particular by Me Jacques Lafontant, the Government Commissioner ai of Port-au-Prince, Charles Nazaire Noël Director of the Penitentiary Administration (DAP) and the Chief Inspector General Hervé Julien of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) visited the National Penitentiary to inquire about conditions of detention.

At the end of the visit, Minister Delille declared to the media "We must release from prison those who have committed minor crimes. On the other hand, highwaymen, such as kidnappers and rapists who keep bereaving Haitian families must pay for their actions."
