iciHaiti - Covid-19 : Towards a better coordination of aid to Haitians living in DR
In the perspective of better coordination of assistance to compatriots living in difficult situations in the Dominican Republic or wishing to return to Haiti, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Claude Joseph held an important working meeting, Wednesday by videoconference, with the heads of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the International Labor Organization (ILO), the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization and (WHO/PAHO), the United Nations Program for Development (UNDP-Haiti) and the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH).

This working meeting was an opportunity for Minister Joseph to thank the IOM, in particular, for the financial support granted to Haitian students in the Dominican Republic. He took the opportunity to request the organization's help for Haitian workers who voluntarily decided to return to their country.

In the context of Covid-19, Chancellor Joseph highlighted the concern that the massive and disorderly arrival at the border of Haitian nationals from the Dominican Republic can represent and stressed the need to strengthen epidemiological control at different points on the border to prevent the spread of the virus.
