iciHaiti - Culture : Honor and merit to Haitian-Canadian artist Wesley Louissaint
Thursday, November 26 at the restaurant Le P'tit Creux, in Pétion-Ville, the Minister of Culture Pradel Henriquez, paid a well-deserved tribute to the Haitian-Canadian artist of international renown singer, guitarist and singer-songwriter Wesley Louissaint aka "Wesli", in the presence of many personalities from the artistic world including Fabienne Denis, Wilfrid Bolane from the Ti Coca group, Welele Doubout, Rodrigue Julien, Harry Luc, Joël Widmaier, Zagalo whose real name is Akinson Bélizaire, Emmanuel Vaval, Berthony Raphaël, for his participation in the promotion of Haitian culture and the Creole language in the world.

Wesley, who has lived in Montreal since 2001, is one of the young Haitian talents, who has clearly woven a career with, as a backdrop, root music, rara, hip-hop and world music in order to create his own style. An opportunity for the Minister to honor this young star from the National School of Art who has brought Haitian culture into the limelight, in particular, in Europe, Africa and America

In an atmosphere, marked by conviviality, between declamations of snatches of texts, with the theater troupe Palto Vanyan, songs, with the icon Pierre Rigaud Chéry, accompanied by Chantale Drice, Wesley Louissaint was pampered by his pairs who, at the turning point of the tribute show, were able to appreciate his hip-hop style, thanks to a short improvised performance.

Minister Henriquez declared that the whole country was proud of this son, because he did everything to make our two-tone float as high as possible. What has earned him, moreover, to win several international prizes:

2020 :
"Canadian Folk Music Awards" Artist of the Year, Best World Music Album of the Year.
Independent Music Award in New York for Best World Traditional Song of the Year.

2019 :
"Félix ADISQ Award" for the Best Music Album in the world of the year.
"Juno Award" (Canada Grammy) Best World Music Album of the Year
"Académie Française Charles CROS Coup de Cœur Prize" for Best Original Global Album of the Year.

The Minister considers him to be a true ambassador of Haitian culture.
