In a note, Fritz Deshommes Rector of the State University of Haiti (UEH) said to have learned with sadness the news of the death Monday February 1 in Port-au-Prince, of Professor Emeritus Guy Maximilien.

"[...] Doctor of theology, specialized in religious sciences, Professor Guy Maximilien taught for many years at the École Normale Supérieure. He played a major role in setting up the 'History, Memory and Heritage' Master's Program, of which he was one of the first leaders. Endowed with a deep culture and remarkable intellectual elegance, Professor Guy Maximilien was honored by the Rectorate of the UEH in May 2018 for his dedication to the service of the institution.

The Rectorate selutes the departure of Professor Maximilien and asks his relatives to accept his heartfelt condolences. In addition, he invites the entire university community to show its support for the family of the late and all those affected by this bereavement."
