10 years, for a nation, it is not an eternity...

On the occasion of the 210th anniversary of Haiti's independence, Lesly Condé, the Consul General of Haiti in Chicago in his speech at the Church of Our Lady of Peace, declared "210 years for a Nation is not an eternity. Yet the obstacles to be overcome were many in the early days and still are. Today, especially in the aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake, our situation remains unsatisfactory. But in 1804, God wanted that we are a Nation. We will keep our identity and our hopes despite the odds, the Lord will help us to unite like our ancestors, around our proud identity and on behalf of the legitimate expectations of future generations."
