First plenary session in the lower house

Tuesday took place the first plenary session of the Lower House, chaired by Jacques Stevenson Thimoléon, devoted exclusively to the registration of political blocs, as provided by the regulations. At least 51 deputies ere present. Apart from the pro-government majority bloc "Parliamentarians for Stability and Progress" (PSP), two other minority blocks have confirmed their existence in the House: "Parliamentarians for Institutional Strengthening" (PRI) and "Parliamentarians for political balance" (PEP). No other political bloc has been recorded.

Calendar of pre-Carnival activities

The pre-carnival activities of the 2014 National Carnival will be held around the Artibonite: January 26 in Saint-Marc, on February 2 in Gros Morne, February 9 in Marchand, February 16 in St-Michel de l'Atalaye and 23 February in Gonaïves, closing of pre-carnival festivities. Two walking bands will be chosen in these communes, to participate in the route of the 2014 National Carnival, during the three days Gras 2, 3 and 4 March in Gonaïves.

Meeting between the executive and the legislature

Tuesday at the National Palace, President Michel Martelly participated in a meeting between the Executive and the Legislature, in the presence of members of both offices (Lower House and Senate) newly elected.

Social housing in Caracol

Tuesday a coordination meeting with "Food for the Poor" was held in the premises of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) around the start of construction of social housing in Caracol.

FITUR 2014

Tuesday on the sidelines of Haiti's participation in FITUR 2014 Stéphanie Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism met Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Discussions focused among others on the Awareness Project of the Ministry with the Organization of American States and the WTO and the Application of Haiti to host the meeting of the Commission of the Americas of the WTO. Carnival of Jacmel

Jacmel Carnival will be held Sunday, February 23, on the theme "Pote Kole pou n avanse".
