Banks can lend more
Speaking in a video message to the 4th Summit on finance and applied technology organized around the theme "Financing Development in Haiti", Charles Castel, Governor of the central bank, announced a 79% increase in bank credit stressing that the loan on deposit was increased from 26% in 2010 to 43.4% in 2013. However, far from being satisfied, the Governor Castel noted that the banking system today the banking system lent only 43% of its total deposits, while the average for the Caribbean Region is 67%. Recalling that the banking system currently has the capacity to lend $800 million (10% of Haiti's GDP).

Ready for literacy in Bernagousse

This training, which focused on the literacy method "Wi, mwen kapab" (Yes I can) [an adaptation of the Cuban method "Yo Si Puedo"] was provided by the Cuban aid worker Luis García Reina Eyen and Frantz Louissaint, the assistant coordinator of the Secretariat of State for Literacy in the department of Grand Anse.
