Fight against trafficking of cultural goods

As part of capacity building in the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural goods, a workshop and meeting was organized for 3 days this week by UNESCO Port-au-Prince, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, the National Bureau of Ethnology, the Museum of Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH), the Institute for the Protection of National Heritage (ISPAN), the International Council of Museums (ICOM Haiti), the General Administration of Customs (AGD ) and the National Police of Haiti (PNH).

Me Anel Alexis Joseph yields under pressure

Friday, under pressure, Me Anel Alexis Joseph, President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), finally agreed the vote of the majority of members of the Institution for the replacement of Marie Carole Floréal Duclervil to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). It was decided at the meeting to launch a call for candidates. Those interested have until Monday to file their case. The choice of replacement should take place at a new meeting scheduled for next Tuesday.

19 police officers dismissed by IGPNH

Thursday, Divisional Commissioner, Jean Marc Wilkens, spokesman of the General Inspectorate of the National Police of Haiti (IGPNH) announced that for the month of June 2014, the IGPNH ordered the dismissal of 19 police officers and the isolation of two others to murder, assault, illicit drug trafficking and abandonment of post. The Commissioner also indicated that the PHN had received 29 complaints against these officers of the national police and transmitted to the Directorate General of the institution, 42 cases for follow-up.
