iciHaiti - Social : Protest in Petit-Goâve this morning (UPDATE 11:17 a.m.)

This Friday, May 16, considerable tension, burning tires, erected barricades are reported in some streets of downtown of Petit-Goâve, the National Road #2 is blocked at the crossroads Andredicette, traffic is completely impractical...

Vehicles coming from the south remains blocked on the National #2, where stone-throwing were observed.

The protest was launched following the rejection by the CEP of the candidacy of Germain-fils Alexandre (VERITE) as deputy of Petit-Goâve.

Update 11:17 a.m. :

Several hundred people took to the streets to demand the reinstatement of the candidate for deputy of Petit-Goâve, Germain-Fils Alexandre in the electoral list.

The members of the Joint Liberation Front (FML) announce "There will be no elections in Petit-Goâve if the CEP does not reverse its decision... We will never accept the rejection of the candidacy of Germain. We will peacefully block the National Road #2 and the rest of the country, day and night, we will maintain the mobilization," declared Me Alain Pierre, spokesman for the FML.
