iciHaiti - Social : Nothing is ready to host the Haitians repatriated from RD

Recall that the Haitian authorities organized towards mid-May https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-13970-icihaiti-social-the-government-is-preparing-to-welcome-the-haitians-deportees-from-dr.html the first multi-party meeting at the initiative of the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE) to develop a contingency plan to host in humane conditions, Haitian repatriated living in an irregular migratory situation in the Dominican Republic, who will not have been accepted in the National Plan for Regularization of Foreign after 17 June 2015.

The National Migration Office (ONM), the National Police of Haiti (PNH), the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR) and various human rights organizations working in the border area, participated in several meetings during the month of May, to try to develop a plan.

A Monitoring Committee has been established and 2 points of accommodation were retained in Ouanaminthe and Malpasse, to host Haitians expelled from the neighboring Republic. But on these two sites, despite the announcement by the Government that talks about building two shelters centers, no construction is visible except a sign on which is written "Centre d’accueil des rapatriés" (Repatriated reception Centre) and a beginning of land preparation, according to the photos released last week by the Ministry of Defence.

Ronald Joseph, the Departmental Director Northeast of the ONM, awaiting government directives, did not see how the country will receive a large number of our compatriots in terms of logistics : housing, food, care and transportation, while nothing seems to move and the deadline is reduced day by day...
