As part of the projecy of Sustainable Management of

Terrestrial Protected Areas and of Natural Areas an awareness day was held recently on the Protection Project of Trou Caïman (commune of Thomazeau near Croix-des-Bouquets).

This project has as main objective to strengthen measures to protect natural terrestrial ecosystems of Haiti, enabling them to play their role of resilience and adaptation of Haitian population face the major natural hazards and global warming.

Over 3 years, the project aims to establish a national system of protected areas and ensure its effective management, and to promote alternative development models for the well-being of people living in the buffer zones of these protected areas.
