Monday, Stéphanie Balmir Villedouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTIC), announced that "The Citadelle Laferrière is ranked 7th in the prestigious compilation of the TOP 10 of TripAdvisor, category remarkable monuments and historical sites to visit in 2015 in the Region of the Caribbean." The Citadelle received a Certificate of Excellence, which was presented to the Minister Villedrouin.

Built in the XIX century by King Henri Christophe, perched 900 meters above sea level on the Laferrière peak in northern Haiti, listed as a World Heritage by UNESCO since 1982, La Citadelle Laferriere, commonly known in Haiti as the 8th wonder of the world, is the largest fortress in the Caribbean. It is located 15 km south of the historic town center of Cap-Haitien.
