A boat carrying 99 people from Haiti (19 women and 80 men) was intercepted by the Royal Turks & Caicos Islands Police Force, one mile off Providenciales.

According to a police statement, the 27-feet boat from Haiti was escorted to South Dock Port by the Navy Department. Officials from various police units, border control and other government and non-government agencies, were present to assist with passenger processing.

All illegal migrants were taken to the detention center for further treatment and repatriation to Haiti.

A thorough search of the ship was conducted, but nothing illegal was found, police said.
