Fresner Dorcin, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Development, visited the production site of eggs and chickens "Chic poulet" where more than 4 million eggs are produces every month. This production that represents 10% of the monthly consumption of Haiti has created 182 jobs. 12 million US dollars were invested in the sites of "Chic Poulet" for : the production of food, chicks, slaughter, production of broilers and egg production.

"There is room for new investors in this promising agricultural subsector. Efforts are needed to control smuggling (unfair competition) of eggs from the Dominican Republic," said the Minister

Furthermore, Michel Chancy, Secretary of State for Animal Production, recently speaking at a sensitization workshop to the risk of importing diseases through food announced that the State intended to maintain the restrictive measures on imports of non-compliant products from the Dominican Republic to protect both consumers and local producers as well as investments in the agricultural sector.
