Last week, during the direct flight 7I533 of the InselAir (direct flight of Wednesday) between Princess Juliana International Airport in Philipsburg (St. Martin) and Toussaint Louverture airport of Port-au-Prince, a fire alarm from the left engine was triggered near the Dominican Republic.

According to the management of the local airline, the pilots immediately executed the necessary procedures and the twin-engine aircraft, a McDonnell Douglas MD-80, registration PJ-MDE, landed in emergency, in complete safety in Santo Domingo, with only one engine, there were no injuries.

The technical team of InselAir immediately opened an investigation to determine the cause of the fire alarm. All passengers, whose number was not specified, were accommodated in Santo Domingo and InselAir indicated they would transport them as soon as possible to their final destination either by air or bus to Haiti.
