iciHaiti - Football : Saint-Marc won the Cup of the Presidency 2015

Sunday, Prime Minister, Evans Paul, accompanied by Jimmy Albert, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, gave the kickoff of the football final of the Cup of the Presidency 2015.

Supervised by agents of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) and Brigadiers of Civic Action, young people carrying signs identifying the 46 teams that took part in the competitions, a brass band, majorettes, a body of Honor and dozens of young athletes roamed the streets of Petion-Ville from the Place St Pierreto Ste-Thérèse Park.

Taekwondo, Kyokushinkai, Shotokan (Kata, Self defense, combat technique) exhibitions, of athletics competitions (endurance races and relays) and a football match between the PNH to the Presidency preceded the grand final between the teams of Cap-Haitien and Saint-Marc at Ste-Thérèse Park of Pétion-Ville. After 90 minutes of intense play and equality in the score, a session of penalty kicks was necessary to decide between the two teams finally making Saint-Marc the champion team of the Cup of the Presidency 2015, for the second consecutive time.

The Minister Albert thanked President Martelly and Prime Minister Paul for contributing to the achievement of the Cup of the Presidency 2015. Before wishing a good school year for all youth of Haiti, he also sent thanks to the President of the Haitian Football Federation, Dr. Yves Jean-Bart, executives of the Ministry, to the participating teams and finalists who have worked for the success of the Cup of the Presidency.

The Prime Minister, Evans Paul onveyed greetings of President Martelly who had not been able to come watch the final, being held at the Caribbean Summit in Jamaica.
