iciHaiti - Economy : Slight decrease on the Land Tax of Built Properties

Wednesday, on the sidelines of the presentation of the Steering Committee on Reform of the energy sector, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Economy and Finance spoke about the amount of the Land Tax of Built Properties (Contribution Foncière des Propriétés Bâties - CFPB) "Everyone knows that for a home whose rental value exceeds 21,000 gourdes per year, the owner pays annually 15% CFPB. At the time this rate was set in 1979, the houses did not have the values they have today.

We realize that this is a very high rate today and to encourage people to pay the CFPB, we decided to lower the rate to 12%. However, those who refuse to pay the tax will fall under sanctions."
