iciHaiti - Social : Savannah, a page of history to exploit

At the ceremony of the 236th anniversary of the Battle of Savannah on Place Franklin Square, Savannah (Georgia) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-15420-haiti-social-celebration-of-the-236th-anniversary-of-the-battle-of-savannah.html Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture stressed "The Haitian Diaspora can be proud of having a temple of remembrance on American soil, to feel at home in Savannah, where the blood of his ancestors sank for the conquest of freedom and American independence. It can highlight the monument by doing touristic visits and makes of it a ultural pilgrimage center where Haitian expatriate families come to remember the historic gesture of their fathers, and to remember the sacrifices and suffering that have projected the American colonies on the podium of the free world as the greatest power of the world."

Further, the holder of the Ministry of Culture (MC) urged the Haitian community living in the United States to the consideration of site of Savannah as a symbol whose one of the virtues would be to rehabilitate the perception of the country at the international level.

Between memorial ceremony, festival and cultural evening, our compatriots of Savannah were entitled to two days of celebrations of Military Valour and political eloquence of his heroes, who left the Caribbean to come to plant the standard of freedom on American soil.
