Tuesday in the framework of the International Day of the Creole language (October 28), Jean Wilberson Timothée, the Secretary of State for Literacy (SEA) has announced the launch of the "National Literacy Campaign" 2015-2016. With a budget of 50 million gourdes this campaign aims to alphabetize 200,000 beneficiaries.

Priority will be given to Miragoâne and Carrefour where will be implemented a literacy pilot project for a 4 month period, 100,000 people will be affected. This national campaign will then head in the Southeast department, where from April to July 2016, 100,000 other people will be literate. This literacy campaign will reach later other departments.
