As part of the 2015-2016 budget, in support to the economic recovery, the Government intends to provide incentives for the development of renewable energy and access to energy like duty and tax exemptions on equipment intended for use and production of renewable energy among others : solar panels, solar inverters, solar water heaters, solar lighting etc...

It intends to promote in its program, the development of renewable energy in Haiti, particularly to the benefit of rural areas. The cost of solar panels continues to decline and the country has significant renewable energy potential, yet little exploited.

This program is the effort of infrastructure development to promote rural investment and also of a rural electrification program in study with the World Bank, for the electrification of nearly one million Haitians, with micro-systems under 10 MW off-grids, the creation of jobs and training of rural technicians.

Recall that Haiti need 500 MW of capacity for the otal consumption of the population, while only 176 MW are produced, 81% by thermal power plants with an average production cost of USD$0.32 - 0.39...
