iciHaiti - Culture : The Haitian rapper «Black Alex» passed away

On Friday, the famous Haitian rapper Jamecy Alex Pierre, aka "Black Alex", which debuted in the King Posse group in the 90s and that marked a whole generation with hits such as Lokal, Bòt La..., besides many carnival meringues, died at age 39, the latter had since many years HIV, and suffered from various related health problems. Admitted to the hospital of the Haitian community since a fortnight, he was surrounded by family members when he passed away at 9:25.

This is the King Posse group that had put him to the front of the scene in the 90s, then in the heart of Haitian he had continued to evolve his music career despite his various health problems, gradually abandoning the scene.

"I welcome departure for the Orient eternal of the alented artist Black Alex. That his soul rests in peace !" declared the President Martelly.

Dithny Joan Raton, the Minister of Culture reacted to the sad passing said "The talent, charm, art and creativity of our Black Alex, will miss us. We are very touched. Sincere condolences to his family and many fans. May his soul rest in peace."

"I am deeply saddened by the departure of Jamecy 'Black Alex' Pierre. My sympathies to his family and to the Haitian music community "expressed Stéphanie Ballmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism.
