iciHaiti - Health : 66,000 patients treated for HIV in 2015 14/12/2015 11:50:51
The Ministry of Public Health and Population in Haiti, through the National Programme for the Fight against AIDS (PNLS), has provided in 2015, HIV treatment to 66,000 Haitian patients, with support from the Global Fund PEPFAR (President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) and the United Nations development Programme (UNDP). UNDP in its latest round buying public procurement of TLE (Tenofovir, Lamivudine and Efavirenz), a treatment therapeutic recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), the most widely used in antiretroviral therapy of first line, was able to buy (through a significant reduction in price) 211.219 medicine boxes TLE, for an amount of 2.17 million US dollars to Haiti and thus contribute to the treatment of more than 17,000 people in 2015.
