This week at the Ministry of Tourism, the Divisional Commissioner, Carl Henry-Boucher main responsible of the Tourist Police (PoliTour) in the presence of Maryse Noel the Director General of the Ministry, the unit's agents, representatives of the General Directorate of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), of the general inspection and other branches of the police institution, presented an overview of the work of this specialized unit, responsible among other things : of the protection of sites and tourist accommodation, as well as assistance to visitors in the country.

He indicated that two Promotion including one, of 52 agents https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9540-haiti-security-graduation-of-the-first-promotion-of-the-tourist-police.html and the other 47 PNH officers https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-11025-haiti-tourism-2nd-promotion-of-the-politour.html , were recruited since the creation of the PoliTour in 2013 and an additional 12 officers received a training of supervisors. He also confirmed that the entity of the PNH, is now deployed in the West and North departments.

In Port-au-Prince, the Tourist Police officers are particularly found in the Champ de Mars area at Toussaint Louverture International Airport on the coast of Arcadins and with the hotels of the metropolitan area. In the north of the country, they find themselves at La Citadelle, in Choiseuil and Labadee.

Furthermore he underlined the remarkable work of the Tourist Police to major cultural events of the last two years citing for 2015: the organization in Haiti of the 58th meeting of the Committee of the Americas of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the safety of visitors to the festival of Caribbean arts (Carifesta) in Haiti last summer and the opening of Royal Decameron Beach Resort Indigo.

For 2016, it is planned including: the deployment of PoliTour in the departments of South and Southeast and the recruitment and training of the 3rd Promotion.
