iciHaiti - Security : The Dominican reinforce the border
The Dominican authorities reinforced the border with Haiti to prevent Haitians from traveling to the Dominican Republic without documents or with false papers as they try to return to that country after spending the year-end holidays in Haiti.

Members of the Dominican Republic's army, of the specialized Border Security Corps (Cesfront) and inspectors of Migration (DGM) controls the border crossing with the intention of catching illegal attempting to enter into Dominican Republic. The Dominican authorities indicate that also many Haitians, ineligible to emigrate to the Dominican Republic, trying to enter collectively for migration purposes.

While at the level of border crossing point was prevented entry of Haitians, many have chosen to use the mountain to do it, as usual to enter Dominican territory.

Rafael M. Vasquez, Supervisor at the Immigration Agency reported that in collaboration with other organizations, the security and surveillance along the border have been strengthened to prevent the entry of undocumented persons, stressing that people with documents appropriate are allowed to cross the border.
