iciHaiti - Culture : End and extension of PESIC
Mrs Joan Dithny Raton, the Minister of Culture, announced the extension of the European Program of Support to Cultural Initiatives (PESIC) in Encouragement Program and of Support to Cultural Initiatives (PESIC).

The announcement came at the close of the program by the Haitian Center for Support and Promotion of Enterprises (CHAPE) and the Delegation of the European Union (EU) with other operators such as AfricAméricA Foundations, Haiti Jazz and the Museum Georges Liautaud, among others.

"The closing ceremony does not mark the end of a cycle but the effective renewal and lively of a cooperation who, since the Support program for the Strengthening of the Haitian Culture and Art (ARCADE) has change in European Program of Support to Cultural Initiatives (PESIC)... [and that will turn into and Encouragement Program and of Support to Cultural Initiatives]," indicated the holder of the Ministry of Culture.

To recap, the PESIC was launched in 2012 by the Delegation of the European Union (EU), together with the Haitian Center for Support and Promotion of Enterprises (CHAPE) in order to boost the cultural sector.

This program was funded to the tune of €1 million, of which 90% came from the European Union, or €900,000. Other €100.000 were a contribution of CHAPE and its co-seekers.

It spread over a period of 2 years and covered all the national territory through activities in the ten departments of the country. The PESIC followed the ARCADE, a program that was implemented between 2011 and 2013 by the Ministry of Culture and funded by the European Union. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-2461-haiti-reconstruction-5-million-for-the-art-and-culture-sector.html

Music, crafts, fashion, books and visual arts are the five sectors that were included in this program.
