Recognizing gender inequality and deficiencies in service provision is essential to the realization of the mandate that has the movement of Red Cross Red Crescent, since women, especially women in poor countries and greater insecurity vis-à-vis gender equality, are often the most vulnerable.

The National Society of Haitian Red Cross, with support from the American Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent in partnership with the Ministry for the Status and Rights of Women and the Civil Protection Directorate, will host from 29 May 2016 to 1 June in Port-au-Prince an International Conference on Gender Equality in Haiti, around the theme "Equality in decision making, prerequisite to building resilience"
