Friday, Stéphanie Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Industry came inaugurated the redevelopment of the Place des Artistes located in the area of the Champ de Mars in Port-au-Prince, whose work began in late 2013, with funding of 35 million gourdes of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries from the public treasury. Over 6,000 square meters, a better management of the public space which includes 21 restaurants, 6 crafts booths, a toilet block, a house of artistic performance, a relaxation area and a playground and sports offered by the foundation Lesly Brezault. The management of the Place des Artistes is shared by a tripartite agreement between the City Council, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism through the Hotel School of Haiti.

However the ceremony just begun had to be interrupted because of the intervention of a score of anti Martelly demonstrator who verbally abused the Minister with rude and abusive language against her. The growing number of demonstrators and threatening forced the Minister to take refuge in a nearby restaurant. Her Security agents face the number of demonstrators appealed to the Corps of Intervention and Maintenance of Order (CIMO). The incident ended without gravity for the Minister, who was finally evacuated by his bodyguards.
