iciHaiti - Security : Peru will send a contingent of 160 peacekeepers

As part of its peace-keeping operations deployed in Haiti, Peru will send late April, a contingent of 160 peacekeepers in Haiti. This mission will be led by national infantry company "compañía Chanka" which has already concluded its training sessions at Training Centre for Peace Operations (CAECOPAZ) of Ancón, Peru.

This is the 25th contingent to be deployed in the country and the second operation carried out by Peru and Uruguay in joint efforts.

Besides its security patrols, the participation of Chanka company, will result in civic actions such as : humanitarian aid, delivery of basic food products, health care, services to help the Haitian people.
