From the beginning of combat Evens has easily dominated the Dominican in the first three rounds, the following three have been tighter but Evens now has his domination. Between the 7th and 9th round Mendez tried to bounce back and managed to reverse the trend in the tenth round, although not enough to change the issue of the combat that ended in the 11th round (dominated once again by Evens) by unanimous decision (109-99, 109-99, 110-98.5).
