In a recent statement, US Ambassador accredited to Haiti, Peter F. Mulrean evoking the possibility of a visit of President Obama in Haiti, declared "[...] currently, we consider that the situation in Haiti is not conducive to a visit of the President. There are too many uncertainties. It is true that symbolically, a visit of the first black President of the United States to the first black republic, would be fine. It remains little time in the term of President Obama. So I do not know what will be possible. I hope one day to be able to make the recommendation to the White House, that it's time for a visit of the President in Haiti. [...]"
