Soraya Aquino, Dominican candidate for presidency under the banner of minority opposition party "Party of National Unity" (PUN), expressed in favor of the regulation of the migration situation and repatriation of foreigners who do not meet legal requirements.
She asserts "in the Dominican Republic, there are more than one million Haitians who invaded peaceful the territory with the complicity of the authorities," nsuring that that if elected, she will take the necessary steps to reduce the number of Haitian on Dominican territory "We need to restore order and we will do it [...]" lamenting that "every time the government as a representative of a sovereign state, attempts to regulate the migration of Haitians, the country is put under pressure by foreign powers to prevent it from acting according to circumstances [...] we will not allow that pressure be put on us."
Soraya Aquino stressed that it is the international community that must collaborate in solving Haiti's problems, because the Dominican Republic can not have the burden of the needs of the neighboring country.
