iciHaiti - Economy : The MJSAC wish a budget of 2 billion gourdes !
Monday, Abel Nazaire, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, accompanied by his Director General Ms Valiollah St Louis Gilmus and senior officials of the Ministry, was heard by the Permanent commission "Economy and Finance, Trade and Budget" of the Chamber of Deputies about the amending budget 2016.

Motivated by the necessity to increase the budget allocated to the sector, the Minister Nazaire outlined the needs of his Ministry relating in particular to: the reopening of the National School of Sport Talents (ENTS) of the National Institute of Youth and Science Sports (INJESS) of the School of Hope, to the payment of salary arrears, the renewal of contracts in cessation, to the remuneration of new trainees and sports instructors, to better allowances to civil brigadiers, the strengthening of sports federations and youth associations in the management of sports parks, the better functioning of the departmental coordination and organization of big events.

This represents an operating budget of the Ministry of 2 billion gourdes, or 3 times the amount allocated in the original budget of the Ministry from 2015 to 2016 (667 360 255 gourdes). Given the state of the Haitian economy and the period of budgetary restrictions due to lack of tax revenue, these requests seem unrealistic and out of touch...
