Monday in Petion-ville, dozens of women dressed in white (Deputies) and black (Senators) participated in the ceremony of the return (entry) of symbolic Parliament of Haitian women, in the presence among others of Mirlande Manigat, of Evelyne Cheron, of the deputy Micalerme Pierre, President of the Commission for Women in the lower house and of members of the Government.

Through this symbolic Parliament, women want to promote gender equality in the areas of power as from 1957 to today only 39 women (29 deputies and 10 senators) have served in parliament.

The former Minister of Commerce, Industry and of Tourism, former Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Haiti (CHIC), Danielle Saint-Lôt, currently Goodwill Ambassador of Haiti for the emancipation of women, wished the ceremony, that only women are doing candidate to renew a third of the Senate in the next election.

Note that the members of this symbolic assembly will gather at Parliament twice a week with the permission of the office of the Chamber of Deputies.
