iciHaïti - Social : University research on misfit children
As part of a research assignment on the "Misfit children" a group of students from 3rd year of the Department of Psychologyof the Faculty of Humanities (FASCH) of the State University of Haiti, visited the Rehabilitation Centre for Minors in Conflict with the Law (CERMICOL).
Students met with the head of the Centre, the Chief Inspector Molière Darius, a supervisor, a legal assistant, a nurse, a psychologist and two social workers, on the practice of Reintegration of Minors before going to the clerk of CERMICOL to collect data on the increase in the prison population. Discussions also focused on the existing coherence between Judicial frameworks and the cases of recidivism at the Centre.
This work will enable these students to analyze the structural problems of the Haitian judicial system on the protection of minors in conflict with the law. Note that the results obtained in the course of their work, will be subject to university credit.
