A global report on Peace and Security, published by the Global Institute for economics and Peace from the data of the Global Peace Index rank Haiti in 6th position of the 12 countries considered in Central America and the Caribbean, after Cuba and just 2 rank ahead of the Dominican Republic.

26 criteria are considered in the ranking, including not only the perception of crime but also quantifiable criteria such as homicide rates, political instability, import and export of weapons, terrorism andviolent demonstrations. Globally, Haiti is ranked in 89th position out of 163 countries evaluated (9 places higher than in 2015). Which puts Haiti in the category of countries at the Peace and Security "Medium".

Note that the United States occupies the 103rd position...
