The National Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation (DINEPA) is supported financially since its founding by the Spanish Government. Few people know that the majority of salaries of DINEPA's employees are paid thanks to the direct financial support from Spain. For the sole year 2016, DINEPA will receive a total of over 155 million US dollars from the Spanish cooperation for a comprehensive national water and sanitation program. Spain is the largest donor in Haiti in water and sanitation before the United States (IDB), France and Canada, and far ahead of the Haitian government. Despite this significant support, it is still insufficient for the company to be able to feed the faucets of citizens throughout Haiti.
