iciHaiti - Economy : Haiti and DR together to promote trade and investments

The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) supported the participation of a Haitian and Dominican delegation at the Trade and Investment Convention (TIC 2016) in Macoya (Trinidad & Tobago), within the framework of the Haiti-Dominican Republic Bi-national Programme (BNP) and the Regional Private Sector Development Programme (RPSDP) both funded by the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF). The event featured multi-sectoral exhibits from around 200 companies with country pavilions from around the world.

The Center for Facilitation of Investments of Haiti (CFI) and the Centre for Export and Investment of the Dominican Republic (CEI-RD), promoted business opportunities in their countries under a joint booth, which contributed to increase the two countries visibility and awareness of trade and investment opportunities, as part of the implementation of the Joint Investment Promotion Strategy (JIPS), designed in the framework of the 10th EDF BNP and currently being implemented by the two countries.

Representatives from the Trade division of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Haiti (DCE/MCI) attended the convention and joined CFI in presenting the seminar "Haiti : Opportunities Abound", with a view to highlighting recent business opportunities in Haiti.

During this event, over 500 regional and international buyers, including country missions and representatives of large regional distributors/buyers, met with international professionals and decision makers from the private and public sector from throughout CARIFORUM and beyond, benefiting from structured networking events, a cutting-edge business education programme and B2B matchmaking services.

This mission also served to strengthen the links and collaboration of Haiti and the Dominican Republic with the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers Association (TTMA), organiser of TIC, and hence contributing to the consolidation of intra-regional trade.
