This week at the Hotel Karibe the Office of Citizen Protection (OPC) organized jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Section of Human Rights of the Minustah, a Consultation workshop on the National Report on human rights within the framework of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

The objective of the workshop was to gather suggestions and recommendations from stakeholders on the document that the Haitian Government must submit to the Council of Human Rights of the United Nations in Geneva no later than July 25, 2016. It is important to stress that this report has been prepared by the Interministerial Committee for Human Rights (CIDP).

It is appropriate also to remember that the Universal Periodic Review mechanism offers to Haiti the opportunity to report on the efforts it has accomplished, to inform of difficulties it faces in the field of human rights to ensure the full implementation of the recommendations produced by the Council at the previous review.b
