iciHaiti - Religion : Commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Protestantism in Haiti
From 15 to 18 August, the Protestant Federation of Haiti (FPH) will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the first Protestant church in Haiti. Recall that it was in Les Cayes July 16, 1816, that took place the first meeting of the Protestant leader, Etienne de Grellet, at the initiation of the Protestant church in Haiti.

As a prelude to August 18, will be held at the Hotel Montana, a 3-days international scientific symposium (15, 16 and 17 August) on Protestantism in Haiti around the theme "Implantation, growth and secularization" with Haitian and foreign lecturers, under the leadership of Christian universities, Unifocad and Jean Price-Mars.

The official ceremony will be held on August 18 on the lawn of the National Palace at Champ de Mars, where two giant screens will be installed on the outside, to allow people who can not access the site, follow the ceremony. Several institutions and governmental officials, the diplomatic corps and the Haitian diaspora are invited informed Pastor Sylvain Exantus, President of the FPH, estimating that more than 3,000 people are expected at the ceremony.
