iciHaiti - Olympic Games : Did you know ?
The Franco-Haitian Constantin Henriquez, a native of Port-de-Paix, son of Alfred Henriquez and Louise Elie, left Haiti around 1893 to France to continue his studies. Having failed to qualify for the Olympic Games of 1896 he will be at the 1900 games in the national rugby team, under the colors of France, his native country Haiti not participating in this Olympic edition.

In front of 6,000 spectators, Henriquez and his teammates win the final and get a gold medal. With this medal, Constantin Henriquez enters history as the first Afro-Caribbean to become Olympic champion.
