Friday morning, employees of the National Identification Office (ONI) observed a brief work stoppage in protest against the termination of a contract of one of their colleagues for its non-conforming to professional ethics behavior.

Indeed, a citizen reported to the ONI, it had to pay 1,000 gourdes repeatedly to an employee, that itclearly identified, for obtaining an identification certificate. The victim has also decided to bring a lawsuit, given that the certificate is prepared for free by the ONI and that it never got it, despite the payment of the sums requested.

The ONI, institution working under the Ministry of Justice says it has the duty and the obligation to serve all citizens fairly and to ensure that no fraud or injustice being committed by its employees through their function. In the event that these principles are violated, the offender must be punished immediately in order not to create precedents.
