iciHaiti - Economy : Financial threat on the country, an international affair not American
Thursday at a roundtable taken place at the Embassy of the United States to Port-au-Prince between Allen L. Krause the Economic Counsellor of the Embassy and invited journalists around the "de-risking" [risk of cessation of banking correspondence relationships between Haitian banks and the international financial market].

"The Embassy wishes to clarify that the de-risking is neither created nor organized nor controlled by the U.S. Government. On the one hand there is the CTATF, on the other private banks making business decisions.

This is not aimed at Haiti, but global in scope, Haiti has known this was coming for a long time. If the Haitian government and the parliament move quickly, there is still time to take some important steps, which we strongly support.

Relatively speaking, Haiti is not being affected as badly as other countries by this situation that is not a US government matter."
